I know, I've been horrible about updating this... After 6 weeks of snow, everything's been a bit delayed around here! Here's a fun family pic--the whole fam-damily bundled up and ready for another cold Colorado day. Katie's 8 1/2 months now, and in 12 month clothes--not a "little" girl! It's been amazing to watch her grow. Each time I came back from Dallas gigs over the holidays it seemed that she'd grown another inch. Scott was a great stay-at-home papa during Winter Break. He and Katie bonded and watched a lot of Star Wars and Superman movies!

So, check out this nifty scar left from my sister's surgery... Wasn't there some Star Trek: TNG episode where little scuttling horseshoe crab-looking creatures burrowed into peoples' necks and took over their minds? That would explain a lot, wouldn't it, Shelley?

HOW CUTE IS THIS????!!!

Almost 5 months, and already mugging for the camera. I know it's been too long since I last posted but, whew! What a crazy couple of weeks--my sister was diagnosed with "chiari disease" (Google it--not very common...) and had emergency brain surgery (I always knew there was something wrong in her head!). Everything looks good now, but sheesh... I'll make a run out to Spokane to provide a diversion for the kids (and Grandma!) at the end of October--can't wait to get the little ones all made up for Halloween.
In library news, I saw that a childhood classmate's mom was just chosen "Librarian of the Year" by PLA. Rivkah Sass was the library manager in Chehalis where I spent my first 18 years. Her son, Gabe, always sat behind me in class because of where our last names came in the alphabet and played in the viola section of the local youth orchestra with me. Congrats, Rivkah! It was neat to see the positive comments about the Timberland system back home.

So, after a long week of driving to rehearsals in Denver...success! The first concert of the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado happened last night at St. Paul's in Denver. If we ignore the fact that the church is under construction and has no heat (and bathrooms involve a spooky trek through the innards of a dark basement replete with hanging wires and chunks of rough drywall) it was a pleasant place to play. The best part was the review posted in the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post--find it here:

BCOC Review 9/22/06

It's been great to have Debra Nagy out with us this for this concert--finally, I got to sit back and listen to Bach's 2nd Orchestral Suite (arranged for oboe and orch.) rather than stress about playing it myself! And having Tekla play the Telemann Concerto on a real viola d'amore rather than the oft-substituted violin was a real treat.

Ah, Saturday mornings in the Meredith house... This is my usual view as I leave for work. Even the cats can't be bothered to go downstairs when I fill their food dishes! I can't say that I'm too jealous, though--there don't seem to be any worthwhile cartoons on these days to make Saturday mornings worth staying in your jammies until noon. It's a good thing Looney Tunes, 3-2-1 Contact, and all those other "old" TV shows are out on DVD so we'll have something to watch when Katie's older!

So, I'm told that all the cool librarians are doing it--so here goes, my first blog! Right now, I can't imagine anything in my life being so interesting that others will want to read about it...unless I use this spot to post pictures of my daughter. At least that way it'll get daily attention from the grandparents! So, here are Katie and Grandpa in Spokane last week... (In case anyone's wondering about Grandpa's shirt, it's half a "smiley" with the caption "Half a nice day!")
